Child run over by ice cream truck in serious condition

THE BRONX - A child was seriously injured after he was run over by an ice cream truck this morning.

Witnesses say the child was crossing Reservoir Avenue near 195th Street with his mother when he was hit by the truck.

Witness Gian Carlos Gomez says he helped carry the boy to the sidewalk.

"[The boy] was going slow,? Gomez says. ?The ice cream truck was tall, and he was little, so I'm guessing he didn't see and he just hit him. I was shocked."

The child is in serious, but stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.
