Child struck by hit-and-run driver released from hospital

WILLIAMSBRIDGE - A 5-year-old boy who was hospitalized months ago following a hit-and-run accident was released from the hospital today.

Joshua Saunders returned home for the first time in four months after police say a green SUV struck him while he was playing outside his home.

He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where doctors say they didn't believe he would survive.

Joshua was welcomed home by family and friends and was showered with gifts, including a brand new bicycle donated by Community Affairs officials.
