THE BRONX - The Astor Services for Children and Families helped children heal from mental stress through artistic expression during a special program Thursday.
The "Paint What You Feel" program helps emotionally charged children release their emotions in a positive and confidence-building way.
Each child was paired up with an artist, and together they use rollers and acrylics to illustrate their feelings on a canvas.
Those involved say the program gives kids an outlet to tell their story without going into a verbal narrative.
The program has been running since 2012, and has no signs of slowing down.
Astor Services for Children and Families provides behavioral and educational services in the Bronx for more than 7,000 children diagnosed with mental disorders.
