THE BRONX - Christmas came early for some lucky children Tuesday afternoon when Santa made an early stop in Belmont.

Parents lined up for hours with their kids for their chance to meet Saint Nick and receive a free early Christmas present.

The event has been organized by NYPD chaplain Carlos Baez for the past 12 years. He said he has spent sleepless nights worrying if there would be enough gifts for the children, but there were plenty to go around.

The children were wearing huge grins as they waited to approach Santa with their wish lists, which included everything from LEGO sets to wrestling action figures.
