THE BRONX - Some residents were forced from their homes after a church fire in Melrose.

The FDNY says the fire started in a recreation room on the first floor of the Christ Love Ministries Church on East 152nd Street late Sunday night.

The church and a neighboring apartment were damaged, but no one was injured. A family living upstairs says they have to repair their ceiling, while others are trying to rid their homes of the smell of smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
