City Council candidates eye BID for White Plains Road

Candidates vying for former Councilman Larry Seabrook's vacated seat are trying to drum up support for a Business Improvement District (BID) on White Plains Road

WAKEFIELD - Candidates vying for former Councilman Larry Seabrook's vacated seat are trying to drum up support for a Business Improvement District (BID) on White Plains Road in Williamsbridge and Wakefield.

Business owners in the area say it does not have a BID due to a lack of comradery and caring. A BID usually puts up holiday lights, gives money to be used toward sanitation and tries to lower crime in the area.

More than 100 businesses have signed up to participate in a possible BID.
