THE BRONX - The New York City Council voted today to approve seven pieces of legislation meant to improve the city's response in severe-weather situations.

Lawmakers had listened to nearly 30 hours of testimony from around 100 people following the December blizzard that crippled the city last year.

City Council members say the bills will make it easier for residents to travel, get information and report information during and after snowstorms.
