City Council passes Student Safety Act

The City Council has passed a bill aimed at helping the Department of Education and the NYPD to team up and cut down on violence

THE BRONX - The City Council has passed a bill aimed at helping the Department of Education and the NYPD to team up and cut down on violence in schools across the city.

Bronx City Councilman Oliver Koppell (D-District 11) co-sponsored the bill.

Under the Student Safety Act, the Department of Education and the NYPD will now have to make regular reports regarding school suspensions, student arrests and summonses.
