City Council releases list of firehouses slated to close

THE BRONX - The New York City Council has released the list of 20 fire companies in danger of closing under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's 2012 budget plan.

Three out of the 20 FDNY houses in danger are in The Bronx. They are Engine 46, located at 460 Cross Bronx Expressway in Mount Eden, Engine 60 at 341 East 143rd St. in Mott Haven and Engine 53, located at 169 Schofield Ave. on City Island.

Earlier this month, City Island residents were among those protesting against the cuts.
