THE BRONX - City officials are hoping residents may think twice about drunken driving if they have free rides home.

The city is handing out $25 debit cards for rides on all cabs and public transportation during the holidays. The Department of Transportation (DOT) and Taxi and Limousine Commission are hoping the free rides help curb drunk driving.

The DOT is also creating holiday-themed ads which encourage deciding on a designated driver or taking the free rides home.
