THE BRONX - Elliot Weinstein, a 72-year-old volunteer for City Harvest, is making an impression on needy families in the area.
The Brooklyn native gets up very early three mornings a week loading City Harvest trucks at Hunts Point Market in the Bronx with produce from vendors that would otherwise be thrown out.
City Harvest rescued approximately 3.8 million pounds from the Hunts Point Market in 2012.
Elliott, who has been volunteering for seven years, hopes to continue to fill the trucks and feed local families.
