CITY ISLAND - A busy holiday weekend is expected in City Island.

While some City Island restaurants are preparing for the busy holiday weekend, some have yet to reopen.

After catching fire during Superstorm Sandy, well-known eatery Tony's Pier will not reopen in time for the coming holiday. Owners say they should be open by Labor Day.

Other places like Minneford Marina have recovered in time for the busy holiday weekend. The marina suffered little damage from the storm, and manager Bob Brody says that is all in the past.

Although the restaurant owners are gearing up for the holiday, residents of City Island are worried about expected traffic. The area frequently gets congested due to its single-lane streets, and residents say the area gets backed up all the way to the Pelham Bay Bridge.

News 12 reached out to the city Department of Transportation to see if there are any planned fixes for the area’s traffic issues, but was redirected to the NYPD. The NYPD has yet to respond.
