CITY ISLAND - City Island's American Legion held its annual Memorial Day Parade Monday.

Veterans from the community say the parade helps remind people that Memorial Day is about remembering fallen heroes, not just summer barbecues.

The parade coincided with both Fleet Week and the Legion's 95th anniversary.

The City Island American Legion has hosted the parade for the past 50 years.
