THE BRONX - Local Target stores opened their doors to dozens of city kids for a back-to-school shopping spree this morning.

It's the second year the Salvation Army has sponsored the event. Children from around the five boroughs each got an $80 gift card to spend on new clothes and gear for the upcoming school year.

Target donated close to a million dollars in grants and gift cards.

The Salvation Army says about 12,000 children across the country in grades K-12 were chosen for this year's spree.
