THE BRONX - Mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced a citywide pilot program aimed at convincing students to stay in school.

When the new school year starts next month, nine Bronx schools with high absentee rates will receive additional support from the city.

If students at those schools fail to show up for class, mentors will call them at home and set up tutoring sessions.
