THE BRONX - New York City officials want to make sure Bronx residents don't continue to throw out perfectly good milk.

Officials want to eliminate the city's "sell-by" date, leaving only the manufacturer's date, which allows for more time before milk is deemed spoiled.

The city's Department of Health says the original reason for the shorter expiration dates was to guard against grocery stores that resold returned milk.
