THE BRONX - City officials are preparing various security measures ahead of Pope Francis' visit to New York later this month.

The pope's visit coincides with a meeting of world leaders at the United Nations, so security will already be tight. Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton say they want all the grounds covered.

The pope will be in Manhattan for a procession in Central Park. It's expected that he will mingle with the large crowds in attendance. Forty-eight law enforcement agencies, including the NYPD, the Secret Service, Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, Port Authority and Amtrak police, met with Mayor de Blasio on Monday, participating in security drills. The mayor says every agency is fully equipped to handle the upcoming events.

The event will also likely result in street closures and train delays. Officials say they will release more information in the coming days.
