THE BRONX - A pay-by-phone pilot parking program in Belmont that was potentially to expand to all boroughs will be terminated on April 16.

The pay-by-phone option allowed users to pay for their parking space by using an app on their smartphone. Many drivers in Belmont who spoke to News 12 say they were not aware that the payment plan was an option.

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the program last April and said it was ready to expand in December.

News 12 reached out to the city's Department of Transportation about the program’s termination. It has not yet responded.
