NEW YORK - (AP) - No butts about it. The City University of NewYork has voted to ban smoking on all 23 of its campuses.

The New York Times says the campuses, from the College of StatenIsland to Lehman College in the Bronx, will have until September2012 to impose the rules.

Since CUNY cannot forbid smoking on city sidewalks, the smokingban will be felt more on campuses with large green spaces likeQueens College and City College.

The University of Buffalo has already banned smoking on itsthree campuses. Last Month, Columbia University passed a measureprohibiting smoking within 20 feet of buildings.

CUNY trustees voted for the smoking ban on Monday.
