NEW YORK - The city is giving New Yorkers another way to watch their waistlines when eating out.

The Department of Health has unveiled a new online calorie counting system called MenuStat that stores and shares the nutritional data for local chain restaurants.

Users can log on to MenuStat.org for free and search their favorite dining spots by name, or look up places by cuisine, before choosing their next meal.

Experts say almost half of the average household's food budget is spent on meals consumed outside the home.
