THE BRONX - City officials are urging parents to organize a plan if they rely on yellow school buses as the threat of a strike still looms.

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott and Mayor Michael Bloomberg say that negotiations have stalled between the Department of Education (DOE) and Local Union 1181, which wants guaranteed job protection for veteran drivers in their contracts.

The DOE says it has its own plans in place in case of a strike this week, including MetroCards for students, transportation reimbursements and assisting parents with home schooling if a child cannot get to class.
