City workers prep public pools for summer swimmers

THE BRONX - The city's public pools officially open for the summer next week, and today's messy weather isn't stopping crews with the Department of Parks and Recreation from preparing.

Nine outdoor public pools around The Bronx will officially open next Wednesday.

The Van Cortlandt Park pool is already filled with water and staffers were working this morning to get the grounds ready for Opening Day.

Officials say the special ?Floating Pool? will be docked at Baretto Point Park this summer as well.

The department says it offers free swimming programs for kids, teens and even adults.  Anyone interested is urged to call 718-760-6969.
