Clason Point Gardens residents call for road repairs

THE BRONX - Residents in Clason Point Gardens are calling for immediate repairs after they say the city has ignored a major hole in the middle of a busy street since December.

According to neighbors, emergency crews dug up the hole to make repairs to a burst pipe, but say they didn't come back to fix the mess.

Residents complain the eyesore has been a safety hazard, with pedestrians nearly falling into the hole. They also say it causes regular traffic jams on the narrow street.

News 12 The Bronx reached out to the Department of Environmental Protection, which promised to send a crew to assess the situation. The Department of Transportation also says it is still looking to see what role, if any, it will play in the repairs.
