THE BRONX - A Bronx school is boasting major academic success in large part to the Department of Education’s Expanded Success Initiative.

ESI targets young black and Latino students in an effort to bridge the educational achievement gap. The Collegiate Institute For Math And Science has taken $250,000 from the ESI grant to be used over the course of three years.

Parts of the ESI include college campus visits, guest speakers who own Fortune 500 companies and summer programs. All are designed to prepare students to succeed on the college level and in life.
