Community cries foul over Throgs Neck Expwy. traffic

THE BRONX - Residents who live in the area around the Throgs Neck Expressway say the heavy traffic on the highway is making their neighborhood prone to dangerous accidents.

A few weeks ago, a tractor-trailer crashed into a tree along the expressway, sending a large branch flying onto the road. No one was hurt in the incident, but according to one family, the branch could have seriously damaged their house.

Neighbors say they have already reached out to their local elected officials in hopes of improving the dangerous traffic situation in the area.

A spokesperson for the State Department of Transportation was not immediately available for comment.
