THE BRONX - A new effort is being made to increase safety for thousands of pedestrians and to protect the land along the Mosholu Parkway.

The Mosholu Friends, a community group that spends time volunteering to clean up the land surrounding the parkway, is asking the city to install a guardrail around the median. The group says the median will protect grass and soil erosion while encouraging pedestrians to use crosswalks.

The group reached out to the Department of Transportation and the Parks Department. It is waiting to hear back.
