Community leaders in Soundview and Parkchester are warning texters to pay attention amid a rash of robberies. Police say those using sidekicks or smart phones

PARKCHESTER - Community leaders in Soundview and Parkchester are warning texters to pay attention amid a rash of robberies.

Police say those using sidekicks or smart phones are being targeted by thieves due to the distraction of talking and texting. According to officials, the robbers have been striking around schools, bus stops and other transportation hubs.

Security officers from the Parkchester South Condominium complex say they are taking extra measures to catch suspects.
