THE BRONX - Members of the Bronx Bangladeshi community held a rally Monday to voice their concerns about recent attacks made on their community.

The group says its members no longer feel safe at home after a Bangladeshi man was senselessly attacked last week.

Police say 49-year-old Muhammad Ali Haider was sucker punched last Friday.

The victim's friends tell News 12 he is now in a neck brace and in critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center with multiple fractures to his face.

Authorities say they are looking for four men who they believe are connected to the assault on Overing Street around 10 p.m.

The victim's daughter says she is outraged and is calling the attack a hate crime.

"This is not something I'm going to be able to forget like that. Every time I walk outside now I'm going to feel like, am I going to be safe? Is something going to happen to me? Nobody wants to feel that way. Nobody deserves that," says the victim's daughter.

This is not the first time a member of the Bangladeshi community in the Bronx has been the victim of a violent attack.

Haidar's daughter tells News 12 her father is slowly recovering after having surgery, and his outlook is improving.
