THE BRONX - Loved ones of a Bronx teenager allegedly beaten by NYPD officers gathered at the Bronx Hall of Justice today hoping for his release, only to find out that his court appearance was rescheduled.

Attorney Michael Warren, who represents Jateik Reed, 19, plans to ask the judge Monday to release his client on his recognizance or reduce his bail.

Reed's violent arrest last week was captured on cell phone video. His family claims officers from the 42nd Precinct used excessive force to apprehend Reed for alleged drug possession.

A spokesperson for Reed's family says the teen's mother and relatives have not been able to see him since the altercation.

NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly called the video of the arrest "troubling" and placed the officers involved on modified duty while the investigation continues - a move that was applauded by Reed's family.
