HUNTS POINT - Some Hunts Point residents are still trying to pull their lives back together just one week after a devastating fire ripped through an apartment building on Manida Street.
Investigators say the fire was started by a child who was playing with a lighter.
Many residents affected by the fire say they are touched by the outpouring of donations from their community.
The Hunts Point Alliance for Children has teamed up with the Hunts Point Recreation Center to collect anything from clothing to food for the affected families.
The organizations say while their efforts are substantial now, they are also concerned with the long-term problems, such as housing, since the apartments won't be habitable for months.
