Commuters: Mold growing at 205th St. station

THE BRONX - Residents say the "D" line subway station at 205th Street has peeling paint and piling garbage, which are creating a mess for commuters.

Some residents say garbage is not picked up regularly and it's attracting rats. They add that paint on the station wall is peeling off, many of the seats are broken and there is mold growing on the tiled walls.

The MTA says the station is beneath a stream and preventing mold growth is almost impossible. According to MTA officials, cleaning crews powerwash the tiles at least twice a year.

Some workers at the station say parts of it haven't been cleaned in more than a year.
