THE BRONX - City Comptroller John C. Liu has released an audit of the Parks Department's work, exposing long wait times to fix hazards in some of the city's playgrounds.

From April 2011 to March 2012, the Parks Department was able to fix most of the problems reported within 30 days. However, 5 percent of the emergency needs in Bronx parks were not fixed in that time frame.

In Ciccarone Park, for example, a 20-foot dead branch was hanging directly over a swing set. It took 383 days to be fixed.

The Parks Department released a statement in response to the comptroller's request for faster fixes, and said it would continue to make safety its top priorty. It also disagreed that issues were not addressed in a timely manner.
