Construction set to begin on Pelham Parkway

THE BRONX - Construction crews will finally break ground on Pelham Parkway this summer.

The project will begin on the southbound side of the parkway and stretch from Boston Road to the Hutchinson River Parkway.

The project includes installing new bus lanes, guard rails and storm sewers to help ease flooding issues.

The Department of Parks and Recreation says it plans to take down 86 trees that are either dying or are becoming a hazard to the road. It also plans to replant 200 new trees.

The $32-million construction project will begin this August.
