THE BRONX - Anyone planning on driving through the borough this weekend may hit some traffic hiccups as a result of scheduled construction.

One lane will be blocked both ways on the Major Deegan Expressway, and the entire roadway is subject to full closures of up to 15 minutes during overnight hours.

Drivers should take it slow on the westbound Cross Bronx Expressway, which will undergo road work at the Alexander Hamilton Bridge. There will be a split in the road, but all current lanes will remain open.

The Hutchinson River Parkway will also have a lane blocked in both directions at various times approaching Westchester Avenue.

Weekend track work is planned for the subway, but bus riders may have an easy ride. Daytime weekend service has been restored to the Bx34, and the Bx13 has a new extension from East 161st Street to the Bronx Terminal Market starting on Sunday.
