THE BRONX - Officials from the Department of Consumer Affairs Thursday educated Bronx business owners about best practices and compliance methods.

Department officials, along with Councilman Rafael Aalamanca and members of the Hub and 3rd Avenue BID, went door-to-door along 3rd Avenue to make sure businesses knew how they could be sure they are complying with consumer protection, licensing and workplace laws.

The commissioner says it's more about making it fair for everyone, and less about "busting" businesses for rule breaking.

Officials understand it can be pretty intimidating and there is a lot of information, not only for business owners, but for consumers and employees as well.

The DCA has resources so everyone can find out exactly how to follow the rules, and where consumers can go to lodge a complaint.
