THE BRONX - Convenience store owner Vishavjit Singh is recovering at St. Barnabas Hospital after being stabbed seven times on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at the Tremont Deli on East Tremont Avenue.

As seen in the store's surveillance video, the suspect approaches Singh and demands money while threatening him with a knife. Singh then confronts the man and tries to fend him off as he is stabbed multiple times. He then pushes through his attacker and runs out the door.

Singh says that he was stabbed three times along his left hand and arm, and four times in the chest. He says that he hopes to be out of the hospital by Friday.

Singh says the incident will not stop him from working and that he plans to return to his store as soon as possible.
