THE BRONX - Bronx residents flocked to cooling centers and spray grounds that opened across the city today as a heat wave swept over the borough.

The high temperatures and humidity left residents looking for ways to beat the heat this week. Some took the opportunity to take a boat out under the Throgs Neck Bridge to get at least a little relief from a sea breeze.

Officials from the city's Office of Emergency Management are urging residents to call their doctor or head to the hospital if they are feeling sick. They say everyone should be aware of the symptoms associated with heat exhaustion, which include nausea, difficulty breathing and disorientation.
