BELMONT - A street corner in Belmont was dedicated today to a local man who spent years helping his community.

The corner of East 187th Street and Belmont Avenue is now known as Natale 'Nat' Cerini Way. Cerini, 66, died in September 2012 from complications of heart disease and diabetes.

Cerini came to Belmont from Italy in his teens and residents say he did a lot to help the community. Cerini helped immigrants become citizens and helped start a local soccer team in Belmont. He also was instrumental in getting a new library built in the neighborhood.

His family says they're very honored that the street corner has been renamed for Cerini.
