THE BRONX - A city councilman from the Bronx hosted a cookout to honor some of the borough's top-performing 2015 high school graduates.

It's the fifth annual Youth Empowerment Cookout Celebration, hosted by Andy King.

King says he began the tradition in his backyard with about 20 teens, but it has grown to include 400 students this year.

"We're recognizing those who have been academically successful, who have been participants in their community, those who have just improved overall as a student and as a person," King says.
