THE BRONX - Starting next week, straphangers across the Bronx and the rest of the city will have to shell out more cash to purchase unlimited ride MetroCards.

The MTA's fare hike is scheduled to take effect March 2 - . While base fares for the city's buses and subways will not be changed, unlimited subway ride MetroCards will cost more.

The one-day fun pass will see a 50 cent increase to $7.50. A seven-day unlimited ride card will be bumped up to $25, a $1 increase. Straphangers that opt for the 30-day unlimited ride card will pay an extra $5 at the new cost of $81.
