Countdown clocks coming to several BX intersections

THE BRONX - Many Bronx intersections may soon be safer for residents traveling on foot with a number of new countdown clocks being installed across the borough.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has begun adding the clocks to busy intersections it deemed as high pedestrian crash locations. At Webster and 3rd avenues along Fordham Road, the clocks have already taken the guessing game out of crossing the street.

Many say they are hopeful the clocks will reduce pedestrian-involved crashes. Others say it will take more of an effort from both drivers and pedestrians to keep everyone safe.
