THE BRONX - Students involved with the Bridge to Craftsman Careers program in the Bronx have helped spruce up the final resting place of one of New York's most famous families.
Their nine-month program concluded Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery after they unveiled repairs and renovations of the Gracie family. Archibald Gracie was an American businessman in the 1700s who built a mansion now used by New York City mayors.
The students say they are happy to keep the name of this family alive, since no one was coming to take care of the tombstones.
The student interns will ultimately be placed in apprenticeship positions by the International Masonry Institute, which is a partner of the Bridge to Craftsman program.
