THE BRONX - Police precincts have been reporting a shift in crime numbers around The Bronx.

Crime is up in the areas patrolled by the 40th and 48th precinct. The 48th is reporting a 15 percent increase, with the 48th reporting a 10 percent increase in crime.

Mott Haven resident, Thomas Martin, says that he thinks the crime spike is a result of the scarcity of jobs and the recent poor weather.

Meanwhile, areas patrolled by the 42nd and 49th precincts show crime has reportedly dropped. The 42nd precinct is reporting a 31 percent overall decrease, with the 49th reporting a 37 percent decrease.

Bronx residents believe that more security cameras and a greater police presence can help bring down crime for good.
