THE BRONX - The family of a 10-year-old injured in a hit-and-run in December wants the city to improve safety at the intersection where it happened.

Supporters say cars strike pedestrians at the corner of Hunts Point and Lafayette avenues too frequently.

Between 2011 and 2015, 14 people were injured and one person was killed at the intersection, according to the Department of Transportation.

As News 12 has reported, Waseem Alnajjar, 10, underwent multiple surgeries after the crash. He's still recovering.

Family members say surveillance video recorded another pedestrian struck just this week. Police say that person received injuries that were not life-threatening.
