THE BRONX - Despite city efforts to repair Shore Road in Pelham Bay Park, drivers say flooding problems persist in the area.

Critics want to know why money for a long-term solution was left out of the mayor's preliminary budget for 2018.

Tommy and James Breen have been vocal critics of the flooding for about a year. They say some of the repairs the city made as recently as last spring are already failing. They want a 1.5-mile stretch completely restructured.

City Councilman James Vacca says officials are hoping for a reconsideration of the overhaul by the time of the final budget in June. He says he is working with multiple city agencies to determine what other repairs can be performed before a permanent solution is reached.

The Department of Transportation says it has been keeping a close eye on the road and has performed work to address "erosion issues on the roadway."
