THE BRONX - Commuters were frustrated this morning waiting for buses to arrive and many say the Metropolitan Transportation Authority should have had extra buses on the road.
Riders on the "Bx5" at Hunts Point say they waited more than two hours for a bus. When buses did arrive, many were so crowded no one could get on.
MTA officials say the delays didn't stem from a lack of buses. Instead, they say it was due to drivers being cautious on slick roads. However, even after the snow was cleared by the afternoon, delays persisted on most of the express and local lines.
The city encouraged residents to take public transportation. However, the MTA says it did not provide extra vehicles.
The MTA is now focusing on preps for the next storm, which is expected to hit by Tuesday.
