CUNY officials extinguish smoking on Bronx campuses

THE BRONX - Smokers beware as CUNY is set to become the largest smoke-free public university system in the nation.

The City Board of New York's board of trustees approved a ban on smoking on campuses, including those in The Bronx. Some of the campuses affected are Bronx Community College, Lehman College and Hostos Community College.

Some students say the agree with ban because of the second-hand smoke factor.

CUNY officials say the new policy will help improve public health. Each college must now submit an implementation plan to the chancellor by the end of June.
