Cuomo: Crackdown ensnares 46 bus drivers

THE BRONX - Nearly four dozen drivers of tour buses, NewYork City buses, taxis and other commercial vehicles are beingcharged with felonies for holding commercial licenses even thoughthey had other licenses suspended under different names, Gov.Andrew Cuomo announced Monday.

The latest crackdown on commercial drivers comesafter a tour bus crash in March that killed 15 people on a city highway.

The driver's licenses are suspendedpending court action. Drivers accused of using aliases to obtain multiple licenses arebeing charged with offering a false instrument for filing andfalsifying business records.

Last month, nearly 100 buses and more than 100 bus drivers wereremoved from the road in surprise inspections.
