Deadline arrives to submit Kingsbridge Armory proposals

THE BRONX - The deadline to submit proposals for the future of the Kingsbridge Armory has arrived.

Hundreds of armory supporters gathered Wednesday night to pray for what they hope the massive space will soon provide, including well-paying jobs and a new school.

In January, Mayor Michael Bloomberg opened up the request for proposals that did not include big-box stores. A mall was already turned down two years ago after the developer failed to promise living-wage jobs.
