Death of 9-month-old NY baby ruled a homicide

(AP) - The New York City medical examiner says a9-month-old baby boy left in the care of a teenager died from bluntimpact injuries.Ryan Ferrer's death

RIVERDALE - (AP) - The New York City medical examiner says a9-month-old baby boy left in the care of a teenager died from bluntimpact injuries.

Ryan Ferrer's death was ruled a homicide Wednesday. The medicalexaminer's office also says he suffered bleeding in his brain andhis internal organs were bruised and cut.

Authorities say a 17-year-old boy was babysitting the infantTuesday morning while the mother was at work. Police responded to a911 call, saying the child was unconscious when they arrived at theapartment located in a Bronx housing project. The baby later diedat a hospital.

Police have not made any arrests but were speaking to the17-year-old Wednesday. The baby was of a healthy height and weightwhen he died.
